Welcome to the website of the student horseriding association A.S.R. BLOK!

The association

A.S.R. BLOK is a student horseriding association. Every Wednesday night we come together at the Hollandsche Manege to ride the horses and to have some drinks! Besides these nights, we also organize other activities such as trail rides, beach rides, and competitions. There are also non-horse-related social activities during which we have a lot of fun and get the chance to relax. Examples of such activities are ice skating, a boat tour on the canals, cocktail workshops, escape rooms, and picnics in the Vondelpark.

A.S.R. BLOK strives to keep all BLOK-members passionate about horseriding and to contribute to an active, sportive, social, and unforgettable student life in Amsterdam.

If you want, you can be more active within the association by joining a committee or the board. You can ask the current board to give you more information about this.

The horseriding lessons

BLOK-members are never bored on Wednesday nights. There are several horseriding lessons in different levels to make sure that everyone can find a spot that is suitable. Besides that, we cook dinner for all BLOK-members interested, and we have drinks at the bar in the beautiful foyer after the lessons. So, even if you are not scheduled for a lesson, it is still very gezellig to come to the stables!

Members that are scheduled for a lesson, but cannot join the lesson, have to find a substitute. The substitute will then take the spot and also pay for that lesson. Substitutes can be found using the private Facebook or Whatsapp group of A.S.R. BLOK. Members that haven’t been able to find a substitute, pay for the missed lesson themselves.

The current program of the horseriding lessons:

19.00 – 20.00: Jumping different levels
19.00 – 20.00: Most advanced
20.00 – 21.00: Carrousel
21.00 – 22.00: Semi advanced

If you are interested in joining the association, and you would like to do a trial lesson, please keep in mind that you should have had some experience with horse riding (you should be able to walk, trot, and canter on your own). We cannot accept students that haven’t had previous horse riding experiences.

You can discuss with the board to do a trial lesson at the Hollandsche Manege at 21.00 o’clock.

Prices

As a member of A.S.R. BLOK, you pay a yearly contribution of €35. However, in your first year, this is €23,50 if you became a member after March. Unfortunately we do not make exceptions for students who are only able to join for the winter semester.

Before you become a member of A.S.R. BLOK, you will ride a trial lesson. This lesson is €18,30 and should be paid in cash. However, if after your trial lesson you decide to become a member right away, the trial lesson is only €14,00 (and will be collected via automatic debt collection).

For the costs of the lessons, we take into account if you are a student or not.
NOTE: you have to be a student when you become a member. But you can remain a member after you graduate.

The costs are the following:

Dressage or carrousel students: €17,25 per hour
Dressage or carrousel no student: €18,00 per hour

Jumping student: €18,00 per hour
Jumping no-student: €18,80 per hour

You will pay for the lessons by automatic debt collection. Once a month you will receive an email from the treasurer with the costs you made and it will be paid automatically. Besides the lessons, you will also find the costs of the other activities on the invoice.

For dinner, you have to pay separately. That is, you have to buy a strip card of 5 (€20,-) or 10 strips (€36,-) with which you can pay for the meals. Every dinner costs one strip. To buy a strip card you have to transfer the money to NL11INGB0004395377 with your name and which strip card you want.
